SAP, an important German software company, is the world leader in enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service revenue. Based on market capitalization, it is the world’s third largest independent software manufacturer. And they have announced the addition of 27 new members to its collaborative blockchain program.
Hartmut Mueller, SVP Business Solutions, Deutsche Telekom IT, stated that “At Deutsche Telekom, we see a big potential for blockchain technology in the telecommunication business. Our cooperation with SAP will speed up digitalization to the benefit of our customers.”
All this participating companies coming from all around the globe cover a wide variety of fields like the consumer products, telecom, retail, pharmaceuticals, logistics, agriculture, high-tech, aerospace and defense, industrial machinery, energy, utilities and public services industries. This proves that a huge potential and a large prespective is found in adopting blockchain technology. Furthermore, this also represents a sign that mass adoption is truly possible.
SAP is co-innovating with customers and partners. The goal is to establish use cases for blockchain that can be standardized to enable wide adoption in digital supply chain solutions. These will be built around the SAP Leonardo IoT capabilities. Such cases include the SAP Asset Intelligence Network, SAP Distributed Manufacturing, SAP Transportation Management , SAP Global Track and Trace and SAP Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Tanja Rueckert, president of IoT & Digital Supply Chain, SAP, said: “our customers and partners are eager to join SAP in embracing blockchain as a distributed ledger that can increase transparency and collaboration. We are equally eager to co-innovate with the world leading companies to reimagine a future where blockchain is woven into the fabric of the digital value chain”.

A large number of big companies are discovering the blockchain advantages and signs of mass adoption appear more and more often.
